Tulum is located just south of Playa del Carmen. These Mayan ruins are located on 12-meter (39 ft) high cliffs, overlooking the azure waters of the Mexican Caribbean.
The archaeological site is relatively small, you can cover the area and see the entire site in about two hours. El Castillo, a large temple, is the site's biggest structure and the most impressive one as well, since it is set right by the sea.
